The publisher of THISDAY Newspapers, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena may have surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over his alleged involvement in the arms deal scandal for interrogation. He allegedly received N500 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in the wake of last year general elections. However, Obaigbena had in a letter to the anti-graft commission claimed he received the money on behalf of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), and as a compensation for the bombing of THISDAY premises Abuja by the Boko Haram terrorists. The disclosure of names of other newspapers that also benefitted from the largesse has made some to return the N9m given for the loss suffered in the wake of impounding some newspapers by the military last year before the election. He has promised to return his own share of N500 million Naira
